“The right tools, the right people, and the right questions can shift entire systems."
— Aunnie Patton Power, Founding Director, Innovative Finance Initiative
We’re thrilled to share that we’ve joined the Innovative Finance Initiative (IFI) as a proud Founding Member. IFI is a bold, five-year effort to scale what works and unlock what’s next in the world of innovative finance. It is a female-led effort to reimagine finance with the creativity, courage, and care these times call for.
Led by the brilliant Aunnie Patton Power, IFI challenges how capital flows, how ownership is held, how exits are designed, and how value is defined. This is more than finance — it’s a cultural and relational shift, and it’s urgently needed.
If we want to use impact investing to solve wicked problems, we are going to need radically impactful funding models that flip the script on traditional finance. IFI is building a space where funders, founders, and field builders come together to:
Learn what is working - like recoverable grants, redeemable equity, impact linked compensation, impact first capital strategies, steward ownership, impact linked financing and so much more.
Explore what is possible - what could alternative exits for impact, innovative islamic finance, secondary markets for community owned real estate, innovative finance for humanitarian aid look like?
Build what is needed - what about an AI powered impact expert directory? Or a tool that built alternative term sheets?
Be The Earth Foundation could not be not be more excited to join this mission. At Be The Earth, we exist to support initiatives exploring ethical ways to redistribute wealth and regenerate ecosystems. We believe regenerative economies grow from trust, experimentation, and collaboration.
We joined IFI because we believe that building a financial system that truly works for everyone is a collective responsibility. We’re proud to stand alongside the bold women driving systemic change, and to collaborate with peers in this space to shape structures, processes, and incentives that are inclusive, purpose-driven, and impact-centred.
